Diamond Anniversary : ED Uganda Baati, George Arodi, presents an accolade to NFA Ag. ED Stuart Maniraguha |
The
Acting Executive Director of the National Forestry Authority (NFA), Stuart Maniraguha,
was honored with an award for NFA's exceptional partnership in environmental
conservation at Uganda Baati Limited's (UBL) 60th anniversary celebration. The
event, held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, was a gathering of various
stakeholders committed to sustainable development, including NFA, which has
been UBL's main environmental partner in a significant restoration initiative.
Representing NFA alongside Business Development Manager Douglas Lukwago, Maniraguha expressed gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the importance of the collaboration between NFA and UBL.
“This award is a testament to what we can achieve when the private sector and government agencies come together for a common cause. The restoration of 40 hectares in various Central Forest Reserves (CFRs), valued at UGX 100 million, is not just a project; it is a commitment to future generations,” said Maniraguha as he accepted the award.
He
further emphasized the critical role of partnerships in advancing environmental
sustainability, especially in an era where climate change poses significant
challenges. "We cannot do this alone. Our forests are under threat from
encroachment, illegal logging, and climate change. It is through partnerships
like the one with Uganda Baati that we can secure and restore our natural
heritage," Maniraguha added.
The
NFA and UBL partnership focuses on restoring degraded forest areas across
several CFRs in Uganda, contributing to the country’s environmental
conservation goals. Maniraguha reiterated NFA's dedication to this cause,
stating, "We are committed to planting more trees, restoring more
hectares, and engaging more communities. This award motivates us to continue
working towards a greener, more sustainable Uganda."
The
recognition of NFA at the event further underscored the importance of strong
collaborations between corporations and environmental agencies. As the ceremony
continued, Maniraguha called on other companies to follow UBL’s lead in
supporting environmental restoration efforts. "I encourage all corporate
entities to take a proactive stance in environmental conservation. Together, we
can make a difference and build a resilient and sustainable future," he
concluded.
The
event at Serena Hotel celebrated not only Uganda Baati’s 60 years of business
but also the power of strategic partnerships in achieving shared goals for
environmental stewardship.
